The second partner meeting of the SPARSE project was successfully conducted in Karlstad on March 28th, 2019 and was hosted by Riksteatern Värmland. Thanks to the warm welcoming of Leif Persson and Gunilla Falt, in the previous days the partners discovered how the Swedish rural system works: from the headquarter in Stockholm to the Varmland regional office placed in Karlstad.
Riksteatern Värmland is a regional promoter of performing arts. They are part of Riksteatern, one of the world's largest touring performing arts producers. Riksteatern works as a civic movement and is owned by non-profit organizers in Sweden. But Riksteatern is also a nationally funded stage art organization that produces theatre, dance, circus, music etc. Riksteatern Värmland promotes efforts to use the performing arts to reach out to places that rarely or never get to meet the professionals. Since 2008 they have been running the project "culture in rural areas" together with local venue organisers in our county. Last year we promoted almost 200 performances in the Varmland region. These performances have been played in more than 80 different venues all over the region. Together with the dance department at Region Värmland they are planning to develop a programme for non word based stage art like dance and circus.
During this meeting, the partners had the opportunity to further discuss the progress of the project and to start planning the procedures to be followed for the development of the next phase of the project.
